owners

Guys, it’s not every day we’ve got to have this beautiful, warming feeling 24/7, right? Christmas is here, and it’s the most wonderful time of the year! So, in order to spread joy and happiness, why not teach your furry friend some fun Christmas tricks? Not only will you have a great time bonding with your dog, but you’ll also be able to show off their new skills to all your friends and family during the holiday festivities. Here are some fun Christmas tricks you can teach your dog.

Jingle Bell Shake

Jingle bell, jingle bell, shake all the way! This Christmas trick is sure to have everyone’s hearts ringing with joy. The Jingle Bell Shake is a fun and festive way to showcase your dog’s rhythmic talents.  Make sure they are secure so that they won’t fall off during the performance. Next, teach your dog the cue word for this trick – it could be something like “shake” or “jingle.” Treats and praises can help encourage them to associate the cue with shaking their body. Once your furry friend understands the command, it’s showtime.

Present Paw

This fun and festive trick will have your furry friend looking like Santa’s little helper as they offer up their paw to receive a gift. To start training this trick, make sure your pup knows the basic command for giving their paw. Once they’ve got that down, it’s time to add a holiday twist. Grab a small box or gift-wrapped item and place it on the ground in front of you. Hold out your hand and give the command for them to give their paw. As soon as they do, reward them with lots of nice praise and even a treat from inside the box.

Rudolph’s Red Nose Touch

With his bright and shiny nose, he leads Santa’s sleigh through the night sky. But did you know that you can teach your dog to do a “Red Nose Touch” trick? Start by getting your pup familiar with touch training. Hold out your hand and encourage them to touch it with their nose.

Once they’ve mastered this basic skill, it’s time to introduce a prop – a small red pom-pom or even a glowing ornament – as Rudolph’s red nose. Place it on the ground and ask your dog to touch it with their nose just like they did with your hand. But, as they become more comfortable, gradually raise the prop off the ground so they have to reach up slightly to touch it. This will mimic Rudolph’s elevated position in Santa’s sleigh.

Santa’s ‘Ho Ho Ho’ Howl

One adorable and entertaining trick you can teach your dog is Santa’s famous “Ho Ho Ho” howl. This fun command will not only impress your family and friends but also add a touch of holiday spirit to your home. To start training this trick, choose a specific cue word or phrase that will signal your pup to let out their best Santa impression. It could be as simple as saying “Santa says…” or “Ho ho ho!”.

Be consistent with the chosen cue so that they associate it with the desired behavior. Next, when practicing this trick, make sure you are in a calm and quiet environment free from distractions. Begin by gently holding onto your dog’s muzzle while repeating the cue word or phrase in an enthusiastic voice. Gradually release their mouth while continuing to say the cue until they start vocalizing on their own.

So what do you think? Are you ready to make this Christmas extra special by teaching your four-legged companion some magical holiday tricks that will leave everyone in awe? Who knows? Maybe next year, they’ll be helping out Santa himself.…
